Plot Summary
In this magical retelling of 1001 nights, the Caliph of Khorasan, Kalid, executes a new bride at every new dawn. Shahrzad’s best friend, Shiva, was a victim of this horrific ritual. In seeking revenge, Shahzrad volunteers to become the bride of the Caliph. She schemes on ways to kill him and hurt him the way he hurt her best friend, however, it’s not as easy as she thinks.

Favorites
My immediate first impression was the richness of imagery. To the details of the cloth Shahrzad wore, Ahdieh does an amazing job with her descriptions. The stunning details made everything seem so real, in the most surreal way. This is probably one of the points that drew me into this book so fast.
I loved the character and plot development in this book. I wanted to know more, I wanted to be in that world. I adore the characters in this book to death as well, the amazing character development made me like them so much.
There was this feeling of like fairy dust (almost) sprinkled on top of every page.
The cover of this book is beautiful. It’s mysterious, it’s bold, it’s elegant. It’s honestly the prettiest book I own to date. When I received the book, I literally stared at the cover for a few minutes because it was just breathtaking how amazing it was.

Not-So-Faves
There’s  honestly not much about this book I didn’t like. I just wish there was a little more character introduction at the beginning. A lot of unfamiliar characters appeared without much of an explanation and I honestly couldn’t keep track of them.

Final Thoughts
I loved this book so much. I don’t even have the words to use to explain it. This book actually came out earlier this week, I bought it on Amazon almost immediately because I’ve been eyeing it for so long and I couldn’t resist. This book just came in the mail last night and I stayed up til 1am to finish it. There is just something so alluring about this book. The cover, the plot, the characters, the setting, it all became my world for the few hours I was reading it. I’m so glad this is a saga because one book is not enough. I don’t know how I’ll wait until 2016, but I definitely pre-ordering the sequel as soon as it’s available. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who are a fan of fairytales. This is an epic tale that you should not miss out on.
